[edit] Motorcycle club articles
Kudos for all your very valuable contributions to the various motorcycle club related articles! It's so nice to have another editor who understands the nuances of the MC world. I'm glad you are here. ;) Mmoyer 02:44, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List of motorcycle gangs
I am headed out of town for a couple of days and will respond when I return (probably Monday or Tuesday). I didn't want you to think I wasn't interested. Have a wiki day! Mmoyer 02:22, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] William Queen
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of William Queen, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.ereader.com/author/detail/11439?author=William_Queen. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 22:07, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Copyright Violation
Please do not remove copy vio tags from an article's text. There is a process by which you may appeal the deletion and/or continue writing the article set out in the tag on William Queen, but it is not done for the author to remove tags. I have replaced the tag. Please leave it alone until an Admin reviews the matter. Bielle 00:04, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough. However, you should be aware - I was in the middle of writing the article when the bot applied this original tag. This was within seconds. I was unable to even save my initial revisions. Also, it is such a short article that the information can only be written in so many different ways. I will continue to work on the wording of the article so as to remove the implication of copyright violation. I am relatively new to Wikipedia and applaud the effort to prevent copyright violations within Wikipedia, but we need to be reasonable here. I think you should review the operation of the bot and either apply a time delay or a minimum number of similar sentences/paragraphs before it is flagged as potential copyright violation. - Hi Garth: the second tag wasn't placed by a bot, but by me. Copyvios are considered very serious on Wikipedia. It is one of the very few reasons any editor, finding a copy vio, is enjoined (not just "permitted) to delete the ilegally used text immediately. That's also why the bot jumps on the text immediately. The article isn't lost, however, and you can follow the link in the tag and continue to work on it. You just can't add back the copied text. Generally speaking, you are better to draft the whole of your article, or at least a goodly chunk of it, in your own words, and not open the new page until you can "copy and paste" YOUR words right away. A blank page will also attract a Speedy notice. Wkipedia doesn't do "placeholder" articles. That was an abrupt start for you, however, but things will smooth out. After all, if you make the biggest mistakes right away, everyhting very quickly gets much better. Happy writing. Bielle 20:35, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks! Lesson learned - which is - finish all my major edits prior to saving the article for the first time. In this case, while editing another related article, I came across a related, yet missing small (sidebar) article (about ATF agent William Queen) and quickly did a cut and paste on a relatively short paragraph I found about him that I then saved, relatively unchanged, and got called away to my "real world" before I could finish my re-write. I agree with you that making the big mistakes early should make for smoother sailing later on. It was not my intention to "rip off" another writer. Thanks for the pointers. [edit] Ed Stelmach
I've deleted a good portion of this edit, because it blatantly didn't comply with WP:NPOV. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 05:12, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

- That was fast! Good job. Saves me doing it myself (I couldn't resist - I should have bit my tongue or put my tongue-in-cheek comments on the discussion page). Did you plan to take some time to provide any references? Garth of the Forest (talk) 05:22, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'm actually devoting most of my Stelmach-related energies to halfheartedly working on a rewrite, which can be found in its current form here (one of the weaknesses of the Wiki model is that when you get fifty people adding a sentence or two here and there, you eventually get something that looks like it was written by fifty different people adding a sentence or two here or there).
