A caveat, though, is that there's an anonymous editor who reverts the article to a plagiarized version of the All-Music Guide entry on Kiss. Thank you for your interest in the 3DMAZE article. I have noticed that you moved the teeth image to the beginning of the critical acclaim section. It was previously floating near to the last review, which actually referred to the teeth. Now the image is near the section beginning and that review is in the end. To my taste, the image is not illustrative enough for the "critical acclaim" section as a whole, just in the end (note in the discussions some other editors noted that they don't understand the teeth and the sentencing/appeal business). Overall, I feel that it is slightly worse now (although if one doesn't read the text, and just looks at the relative flow of text/images, it indeed might look better). I finally figured out who to thank, and so to you I present this barnstar as a note of congratualtions for your critical edit to the Swedish Chef article. My favorite part: After this introduction, the Chef continues speaking gibberish while preparing a particular recipe. His commentary is spiced with the occasional English word to clue the viewer in to what he is attempting. These clues are necessary as he frequently uses unorthadox culinary equipment (firearms, tennis racquets, etc) to prepare his dishes. The sketch typically degenerates into a slapstick finale where the ingredients or equipment get the better of him. It's a good piece; the only thing changed to it since is the correction of "orthadox". Nice work. -Litefantastic 01:10, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

You note that you're a native speaker of Hungarian. Could you check out Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images#15 May and help with a translation? The uploader of an image says that a specific passage of Hungarian law releases all works of the Hungarian government into the public domain, and while I found the Hungarian law, we could use a few opinions from Hungarian speakers on what the law says. Interesting to see that you started both the Boom Boom Satellites article and The Bar Kokhba game section of Simon bar Kokhba. Since I don't read Hungarian, I'm curious as to some of the details of your reference. Specifically, I'm wondering how it agrees with Alfréd Rényi's quote in A Diary on Information Theory:

It is also said that Bar Kochba sent out a scout to the Roman camp who was captured and tortured, having his tongue cut out. He escaped from captivity and reported back to Bar Kochba, but being unable to talk, he couldn't tell in words what he had seen. Bar Kochba accordingly asked him questions which he could answer by nodding or shaking his head. Thus he acquired from his mute scout the information he needed to defend the fortress.

Rényi leaves out the other gruesome details and adds the context of the fortress. Do you know which details are in the most widespread and/or original version of this tale? Calbaer 01:15, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

  • To be perfectly honest with you I don't remember the exact sources of where I heard the story from, except for one, being an old book about games you can play on holiday and all that kindof timewaster stuff. I'm not completely sure about the actual description, but as far as I can recollect, most of the details match with what I wrote in the article. (I just googled for a reference site and found one that seemed to have the same version of the story.) It's worth noting that there's little detail in word-of-mouth; most people who know the story don't really get more elaborate than "someone who had his tongue cut out, but had something important to say" (which, as a sidenote, I think is gruesome enough) - I guess it's a dialectic thing as well. My reference for the article is near-verbatim to what I wrote in english, except probably some word usage, but that's a linguistic issue. Hope this helps, kinda. // Gargaj 06:44, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

By the way, one interesting source is here, and there's more about it in A Diary on Information Theory, portions of which are available online. I can't get more than a general feel for the former, but it seems as though its content is, more or less, contained in the latter. The above link doesn't have anything related to the history, it just explains the game as a work of binary logic.. It's also interesting to note that the Diary notes this: "The only problem with this very persuasive story is that no historical source-book mentions it. Your recent change to Daylight saving time suggests that NTP simplifies the DST configuration of Microsoft Windows, as "the computer automatically synchronizes the computer clock with the chosen NTP server." Can you please explain how that works? Markus Kuhn's page on this problem suggests that NTP will not fix it. NTP talks only about UTC, not local time, so I don't see how NTP can fix or repair misconfigurations of the local-time offset from UTC. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hello. I am a graduate student in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. We are conducting research on ways to engage content experts on Wikipedia. Previously, Wikipedia started the Adopt-a-User program to allow new users to get to know seasoned Wikipedia editors. We are interested in learning more about how this type of relationship works. A tag has been placed on The Shizit requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
