[edit] Cleanup of articles bearing on Australia's 1975 dismissal

[This article on Barwick is one which makes passing reference to the dismissal.] The following is a copy of what I've posed at Talk:Malcolm_Fraser#Dismissal_cleanup As previously mooted over several months on the John Kerr discussion page, we need to rationalise a group of articles dealing with the Australian Labor government's dismissal in 1975. The Malcolm Fraser article is the easiest one because of its relative brevity, but there is considerable duplication to be removed from the articles John Kerr, Gough Whitlam and Australian constitutional crisis of 1975, which will undoubtedly create controversy. However, someone has to make a start. Please, everyone, accept that this is an exercise in good faith and editorial balance, to make these articles better. Cheers -- Bjenks 19:00, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Note on Privy Council honorific

The Australian Style Manual (3rd edn, 1976) says at p. 348: "Members of the Privy Council are appointed for life and are entitled to the style of 'The Right Honourable'. [ . . . ] it is customary to add the letters P.C. after the surname of peers [emphasis added] who are members of the Privy Council. (Barwick, though knighted, was not a peer.)
