[edit] Merge

This should probably be merged with the main Garfield page

Concur, or possibly even just flat-out delete and add a redirect; as it stands, the only information on this page that isn't on the Garfield main page is about the computer generated imagery. Kinitawowi 12:47, Aug 10, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] DVD

Can you make an article on the DVD? Garfield 2 had one! User:Ryan Holloway

[edit] Synopsis

I think there should be a plot synopsis for this film, as it deviates from the comics. Scorpionman 15:27, 25 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Text from User:Chargh from Garfield The Movie (now a redirect)

Story

In the movie, Garfield lives in his house with his owner Jon Arbuckle. However, when Jon goes the Vet the Veterinarian Shows Jon a puppy (Odie) needing a Home. Jon Takes Odie home with great Displeasure of Garfield. Odie is taken to a dog show with Jon and Liz where Happy Chapman sees Odies talent at dancing. Happy Chapman who is famous for his Advertisements for Kibly Cat Food. He wants a talented dog so he could go be a New York TV show. When Jon is asked about Odie being a TV star Jon said he just wants Odie as a pet. That Night Garfield Locks Odie out for the night and Odie runs away where he eventually falls into happy Chapmans hands. Meanwhile Garfield discovers that Odie is going to be sent to New York and he felt guilty. Then he decides to save Odie. When Garfield finally reaches Odie, he finds out that his future career involves an electric shock collar and Odie is taken away before Garfield was able to set him free. It takes running, fighting and even controlling trains but Garfield takes Odie home safe and sound.

The comic and Movie

Garfield the Movie is based on Garfield the comic strip created By Jim Davis. However, there are differences. One difference is in the Comic Odie came to Jon by Lyman who got took out of the strip. However, The Movie Garfield and the Comic Garfield have some things in common such as the love of Lasagna and TV.

[edit] Sequel

With such negative reviews, why would they make a sequel? It couldn't have made too much more than the fifty million dollars it took to create it. Captain Jackson 20:47, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

    • The first film made $198 mil. worldwide, according to this article. (Ibaranoff24 16:26, 8 June 2006 (UTC))
I'd rather be boiled in a cauldron of oil than see the sequel. I love Bill Murray. I love Garfield. But this is one of the worst movies of all time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.62.255.251 (talkcontribs)

[edit] Differences section too short

With the Fat Cat fidgeting like crazy (and not sleeping and eating like in the comics), Jon dating a girl who looks like Jeniffer Love Hewitt and isn't repulsed by him, Odie not being stupid, Nermal not being cute, Arlene not pink, what DOES this movie have in common with the comics? --Lorn 01:13, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lyman

"Odie in the comic wasn´t orginaly owned by Jon like in the move. In the comics he was orginaly owned by a deceased person named Lyman."

Er...deceased? When did he die? BillyH 18:11, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Lyman's being mysteriously written out of the strip is somewhat of a running joke among fans. Jim Davis has (jokingly) replied "Don't look in Jon's basement!" to questions about Lyman's dissapearance.

[edit] Odie

Odie is a dachshund in film right? In the Garfield character saids he is a beagle in the film.

I haven't seen the movie but he looked like a beagle to me, in the preview scenes. Dachshund noses are completely different, much pointier.

[edit] Criticism

With a move this bad and different from the comics, there should be ample information for a criticism section. Yet I don't see anything remotely to that effect, except maybe the differences section. I'm sure with all the negative press you can find some sources, right? --Sapphire Flame 16:58, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ??

A point in the trivia section says: "One TV Special and one episode of one show Haven Similar plot. Here comes garfield and Spongebob SquarePants episode Where´s Gary." Is this vandalism, or a relevant point that (really) needs to be cleaned up? BlueStarz 04:23, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I deleted that. Many movies/books/TV shows have very similar plots. WhatTheFace? 19:28, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. [edit] Joke

*As a joke on the fact there was another movie about a famous cat, the movie's tagline is "It ain't The Cat in the Hat."

What is it? Felix? Heathcliff? Sylvester? Name it! Ryan Holloway 21:34, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
