[edit] FFs or DEs?

Should the ships in this class be at USS Shipname (FF-XXX) or USS Shipname (DE-XXX)?

I'm inclined to think the former, since they spent more time after the redesignation than before. But the early years included the Vietnam War, and maybe some of them were most notable in that era. Any opinions either way?
