Gary Wilton Parr is a Deputy Chairman of Lazard. He has focused on providing strategic advice to financial institutions worldwide. Prior to joining, he was with Morgan Stanley serving in numerous capacities over the years. Parr spent his freshman and sophomore years at NC State University improving his grades [1] and then transferred to UNC for his junior and senior years. He graduated from the University of North Carolina with honors, Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma, and received his MBA at Northwestern University.

During his tenure at Morgan Stanley, Parr served as the Vice-Chairman of theInstitutional Securities and Investment Banking, as the Chairman and Head of the Global Financial Institutions Group, as the Co-Head of the Global Mergers and Acquisitions Department, and as the Chairman of the Princes Gate Fund.
Prior to Morgan Stanley, Parr was with a group from First Boston that formed Wasserstein Perella, where he rose to be Co-President.
Parr’s current serves on the:
- Parr Center for Ethics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill(as Chair).
- Kenan-Flagler Business School board at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
- Venetian Heritage board.
- Mingya (China) board.
- Berkeley Divinity School of Yale board.
