Gary McKillips

Gary McKillips (born 1945-01-10 in Cleveland, Ohio) is a veteran sports broadcaster and public relations executive. He also acts and has appeared as sportscaster Jack Whitaker in the ESPN/ABC movie special, Ruffian, released in 2007.[1]

McKillips has served as a sportswriter for The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Ohio, and has called more than 500 play-by-play broadcasts of football and basketball for stations in Albany (NY) area (WIZR Radio and WTRY), and Atlanta (WFOM). He also reports on Atlanta professional and collegiate sports for a variety of networks and local stations including Associated Press Radio Sports, XM Satellite Radio, MLB Radio and WIP Radio in Philadelphia. He is a member of the advisory board of the American Sportscasters Association (ASA) and a regular contributor to the ASA's on-line and print newsletters.

His public relations activities have included stints as vice president, corporate and sports PR for Turner Broadcasting System; vice president of public affairs for Contel, a nationwide telecommunications firm; and head of PR for the University of Tennessee and Georgia State University's J. Mack Robinson College of Business. He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA); former president of PRSA's Georgia Chapter; chair of PRIME, Public Relations in Management Education; and a member of the public relations advisory board of the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC).

McKillips resides in Atlanta, is married and has three sons, one in St. Louis, one in San Francisco and one in New York City. His wife, Anne, is a consultant in the employee benefits industry.
