Gary MacDonald (born December 15, 1953 in Mission, British Columbia) was a freestyle swimmer from Canada, who won the silver medal in the 4x100m Medley Relay at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada. He did so alongside Graham Smith, Clay Evans, and Stephen Pickell.
MacDonald currently lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was the head coach of the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club until his retirement in 2004; a position he had held for over twenty years. Presently, he works as an assistant coach with the Dalhousie University Tigers varsity swim club.
MacDonald has been known for his rare ability to juggle two apples and an orange while eating the apples and peeling the orange. Gary enjoys martinis with extra olives, as well as many creative hobbies such as carving. In 1997 he carved a dolphin for his favourite nephew, Shea MacDonald. He claims that the reason that Shea is his favourite nephew is because he is the best looking nephew he has.
Gary MacDonald Park was recently opened in Mission, named after him.
