Gary Kent

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gary Kent was President of the Australian Capital Territory Division of the Liberal Party of Australia. Kent was elected to the position in 2000 after several years as chairman of the party's Central Electorate Branch. He served in the position until September 2007.

Kent was in the center of a controversy in November of 2006 after a private email to Steve Pratt MLA was leaked to The Canberra Times. The email warned Pratt about his behavior "You are heading into dangerous territory here mate, you and your colleagues should take a deep breath and divorce yourself from the muckraking." Kent has been closely linked to prominent Member and leadership aspirant, Richard Mulcahy MLA[1]. The Canberra Times published the email in its entirety. The content and leaking of the email became key issues at the Party's AGM several weeks later. At the meeting, Kent and his supporters were re-elected at one of the biggest meetings in living memory.

Gary was born in Melbourne in 1960 and has served as an adviser to several Federal Ministers and is currently a Company Secretary.
