Gary Birch is an English footballer, currently playing as a striker for AFC Telford United, whom he joined from Lincoln City on the 12 January 2007. Birch has signed a contract which will keep him at the New Bucks Head until the end of the 2007/2008 season. He has previously played for Walsall, Kidderminster Harriers, Nuneaton Borough F.C., Exeter City and Barnsley. While at Lincoln he had a short loan spell at Hucknall Town in 2006.
Birch scored on his AFC Telford debut in the 4-3 victory against Mossley A.F.C. at Seel Park. Birch came on as a substitute before scoring the winning goal. Struggling with his weight, in September 2007, Gary was loaned to Rushall Olympic in an attempt to gain match fitness. Birch left the club at the end of the 2007-08 season to join Chasetown. [1]
