Gartsherrie East Junction was a railway junction on the former LMS main line near Coatbridge, Scotland. It controlled the junction to the Gunnie branch line. It was the scene of an accident in the 1950s where a freight train driver mis-read signals. The engine became derailed at catch points, turned over on its side and was pushed along by the weight of the train. The driver and fireman were very lucky as they both escaped death or serious injury.
The Gunnie Yard spur controlled by the signal box was officially closed on 7 November 1967 following a fire that destroyed the box on 30 January 1967. It is speculated that the spur was out of use from the earlier date.
