[edit] History

Having previously played in the Preston & District League and the North Lancashire League, they joined the West Lancashire League in 1994 and competed at in Division Two. The league was restructured in 1998-99 and Division Two was renamed Division One and that season they escaped relegation to the new Division Two on goal difference finishing the season in 14th place out of sixteen teams. In the 1999-2000 season they were runners-up in Division One and were promoted to the Premier Division. The following season they finished mid-table in 8th place. However, their stay in the West Lancashire League's top flight was shortlived as they finished in 16th place and bottom of the league and were relegated back to Division One in 2001-02.

In 2006-07 they were runners up in Division One gaining promotion to the Premier Division.[1] The following season they were crowned champions of the Premier Division when they beat Turton 2-0 at home in front of a crowd of over 200 on the last day of the season. The Reserve team also won their league.[2] On 28 May 2008 manager Gerry Hargreaves and his assistant Scott Somerside stood down from their positions with the club,[3] with Hargreaves saying, "It's frustrating winning a league and knowing you can't go any higher. At the moment Garstang have no ambitions to move beyond the West Lancs but they might want to in future."[4]
