Garrett Hartley (born May 16, 1986 in Southlake, Texas) is a placekicker for the Denver Broncos. In the 2006 football season he was nominated for the Lou Groza Award. He had the best statistics, but did not receive the award. He was a two time All Big 12 selection at kicker.
While not drafted during the 2008 draft, Hartley signed on after the draft with the Denver Broncos, where he will compete with - also newly signed kicker - Matt Prater for the starting job, due to the departure of long time Broncos kicker Jason Elam.
Hartley prepped at Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas, where he was coached by Todd Dodge. He set a state record with 90 PAT's in 2002 (surpassed by another Carroll Dragon, Kevin Ortega, in 2004). Coming out of Carroll, Hartley was rated as the 2nd best placekicker in the country, by Rivals.com.
