Garrett Gilbert (born July 1991) is an American football player. He currently starts at quarterback for Lake Travis High School of Austin, Texas. Gilbert broke the state record for most passing yards in a season with 4,827 yards during his junior season.[1] The record was previously held by Graham Harrell. Gilbert is currently rated a five-star prospect by Rivals.com.[2] Alongside Matt Barkley of Mater Dei High School in California, Gilbert is considered the premier quarterback prospect of the class of 2009.
Gilbert guided Lake Travis to the 2007 4A state championship. He is the son of former NFL quarterback Gale Gilbert.[3] On February 7, 2008, Gilbert verbally committed to the Texas Longhorns.[4]
