Garreth John Westwood (born June 10, 1977) is a British-American legal consultant, independent scholar, and expert on nationality law. He is a leading advocate of legal informatics, spearheading the online delivery of niche legal services to a wider constituency (e.g., DualCitizen.net Legal) [1]. As a commentator, he sometimes reports and blogs under the pseudonym "Gearóid Ó Siarcoil", being his legal Gaelic name in the Republic of Ireland. He is an expert in dual citizenship law, specialising in Anglosphere issues such as US-Ireland dual citizenship and US-British dual citizenship.[2] He is the Senior Legal Consultant for the BNA Consulting Group, based in Bellingham, Washington, USA. He was born in Colchester, Essex, England and now works from White Rock, British Columbia, Canada (near Vancouver), Bellingham (north of Seattle), and Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico (the hub of southeastern Mexico).
[edit] Legal Practice
Mr Westwood studied Political Economy at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He completed post-graduate legal studies in British and Irish nationality law in Belfast, Northern Ireland after which he set up a relocation consultancy to help Irish-Americans to participate in the Northern Ireland real estate market. This consultancy quickly lead to a legal practice specializing in Irish and British citizenship-by-descent. After moving his practice to Bellingham, Washington, USA and White Rock, British Columbia, Canada, Westwood completed further legal licensing coursework and started working on Canadian and United States immigration and nationality cases. Because of his Economics background, he has an interest in Investor Immigration casework.
