[edit] Episode recap
After Garfield plays a trick on Odie involving the recliner, Odie’s retaliation sends Garfield flying and he lands head-first in Jon’s latest food concoction. Afterwards, Odie begins to lick the food off Garfield, which annoys him so much that he ties Odie’s tongue into a bow. Jon then puts Garfield outside because of this (and also because he doesn’t want to be disturbed while he’s cooking).
Garfield is then determined to have someone else take care of him. A girl soon comes along and scoops him up, but her constant talking in baby talk makes Garfield start to wonder whether he’d made a mistake; he changes his mind when he discovers that the girl lives in a mansion. When dinner arrives, he expects an array of delicious food, but he instead is fed some bizarre health food. While the girl leaves to get Garfield another serving of it, Garfield goes to the refrigerator and raids it -- but the girl stops him before he can eat it and instead takes him upstairs for a nap.
Garfield is annoyed when the girl dresses him in baby clothes and then tries to sing (badly) him to sleep. He manages to sneak away, but the girl eventually finds him and takes him outside so that he can play with Boopsie, “the cutest puppy in the whole world”. Garfield is determined to cause terror over him, but then he discovers that Boopsie is a large bulldog. He chases Garfield up to the wall, which he then climbs and escapes the mansion.
Meanwhile, Jon and Odie are sitting at home wondering if Jon had been too rough on Garfield. Jon opens the front door to call for Garfield, and Garfield immediately jumps out (and lands on Jon’s face). Garfield is pleased to be back home until he learns that Jon’s welcome-back offering is another horrible meal. Garfield then packs his bags and decides to go face Boopsie.
[edit] Notes
- This is the first episode to reveal Jon is a very bad cook.
[edit] Quotes
Jon: Let’s see, uh…“add one cup of whipped cream.” But I’m all out of whipped cream, so I’ll add mayonnaise. It’s the same color.
Garfield: Anyone who sings like that should be drug out into the street and shot. Or worse, made to listen to a tape of themselves.
Girl: This is just our weekend house. Our regular house is a lot bigger.
Garfield: What's it called? Texas?
