Garevo (Cyrillic: Гарево) is a small village in Serbia close to Veliko Gradiste. There are around 70 houses in Garevo, and the village has a very low population. Most of the population of Garevo maintains alternate residence in Austria, Germany, or France and lives in Garevo only for the summer. The Garevo was there for centuries, in the start it was named Seliste, but after the terrible floods the citizens have moved a village a little on the east side. Many of male man in Garevo has been in various wars, some were soldiers, some were victims. There are also 11 victims of Jasenovac from Garevo. Some of the notable residents are a poem Rasa Peric or current resident and a first class bohemian Misa the "Brzi"(quick one). Some of the human tragedies were written right here in Garevo. Such as a tragic suicide of local football player who could not take the fact that his wife left him and toke his child with her. There is a big monument dedicated to him. Also there is a lot of legends about Garevo's history, but all that sources are not confirmed. Still that are great stories.
