Gardhiwala is a city and a municipal council in Hoshiarpur district in the state of Punjab, India.

Garhiwala is situated on GT-Road or Military Road, 30 kilometers away from the city of Hoshiarpur. The town of Garhdhiwala was originally named as Garh Devi Wala after an incident in which a cow started giving milk automatically during a flood in the town. Some saints which were passing by saw the scene and informed the villegers that it is a place of spiritual importance. The saints along with some villegers started mining the area. After sometime they found a sculpture of Goddess Durga .The villegers kept this sculpture in a temporary temle. That is how this town came to known as Garhdiwala.
It is also said that Maharaja Ranjit Singhgave away a few money from his treasure.As of 2001 India census,[1] Gardhiwala had a population of 6263. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Gardhiwala has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 74%. In Gardhiwala, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
