Garden Villas is a subdivision in Houston, Texas, United States.
Garden Villas is north of Hobby Airport on the banks of Sims Bayou.[1]
The lots range from one-half acre to over two acres. Most homes in the 876-acre subdivision were built in the 1930s and 1940s, but construction continued through the 1950s, and the area was largely built out by the end of the decade. There are a few homes that were built in the 1980s and even the late 1990s.[citation needed]
The neighborhood is characterized by the diversity of home styles, generous lots, and its massive number of pecan trees. Hundreds mature of pecan trees, planted down both sides of every street, were planted in the 1920s when the subdivision was platted provide a canopy over every street in the subdivision.
Aircraft from the nearby airport rumble overhead some portions of the subdivision.

A River Oaks developer platted Garden Villas in 1926 and planted nearly 6,000 pecan trees in the neighborhood.[1]

The neighborhood is zoned to the following Houston ISD schools: Garden Villas Elementary School [2], Hartman Middle School [3], and Sterling High School. [4]
Ortiz Middle School is adjacent to Garden Villas (Ortiz is on the other side of Telephone Road), yet Garden Villas students are not zoned to Ortiz. [5]

Two Roman Catholic schools operated by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School (Kindergarten - Grade 8) [1] and Mount Carmel High School (Closing in 2008[6]), are near Garden Villas.

The community is within the Houston Police Department's Southeast Patrol Division[7], headquartered at 8300 Mykawa.[8]

The Garden Villas Park, classified as a "Community Park" by the City of Houston, is located at 6720 Haywood [2]. Garden Villas Community Center is located in the same lot.
