GARLI a freely available, software package that infers phylogenetic trees for molecular sequences using the maximum likelihood criterion. GARLI is one of the fastest programs available for this problem. GARLI, which stands for Genetic Algorithm for Rapid Likelihood Inference, implements a heuristic approach (specifically, a genetic algorithm) to finding the phylogeny and parameters for a model of character evolution that maximize the likelihood for a given dataset.
