Gaoming District

Gaoming District (Chinese: 高明区, Pinyin:Gāomíng Qū) is a district in Guangdong province of the People's Republic of China. Gaoming City is located west of Foshan City, and has a population of 276,000 and Covers an area of 967.4 sq km. [1]

Gaoming has resources of Gold, Copper, Tungsten and other minerals. Gaoming county is an important producer of foodstuffs within Guangdong, as well as food and textiles.

Gaoming belongs to Foshan prefecture. Neighboring counties are Gaoyao in the North, Xinxing in the West, Heshan in the South, Nanhai and Sanshui in the East. The county is divided into six districts and three Street committees. Major localities in the county are Heshui (合水), Genglou (更楼), Yangmei (杨梅), Renhe (人和), Xi'an (西安) and Fuwan (富湾).

Gaoming is not particularly well integrated into transport systems. The railway from Guangzhou to Maoming as well as the Guangzhou-Foshan-Kaiping highway do not rouch the area of the county. Gaoming has a river port on the Xi River.
