Gangwar (Hindi:गंगवार Urdu: غنغور ) is surname of a social group Kurmi caste of Hinduism.The Kurmis, who stay nearest the river ganga known as Gangwar. Gangwars are mainly in the state of Uttar Pradesh in Nouthern India. In disrtrict Rampur, Bareilly,Pillibhit & Farukhabad,they were mesernaries in the army of shiva ji and later settled around ganga in uttar pradesh hensce the surname seems of maratha orign. They are mainly speakers of Hindi language. The Gangwars are hard working guys and have knowledgeable work force to cultivate their land and in due course of time, they would become the owners of the land.Their main occupations are Agriculture, Farming,Service & Politics also.
