Gangni is located at 23.8167° N 88.7542° E . It has 43922 units of house hold and total area 341.98 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census ^[1], Gangni has a population of 229138. Males constitute are 51.05% of the population, and females 48.95%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 117027. Gangni has an average literacy rate of 21% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
