Gandaki Boarding School

Gandaki Boarding School (also known as GBS) (गण्डकी आवासीय उच्च माध्यामिक विद्यालय), formerly known as Nepal Adarsha Vidyashram, is a model school of Nepal. It is located in the city of Pokhara, 200 kilometers West of Kathmandu, and is the first and the only Regional School of the country.

Established in 1966 at the banks of Seti river with some thatched huts, GBS grew both physically and academically over the years. It is now considered one of the best academic institutions of Nepal. Until 1993, courses were available for Grade 4 to Grade 10. Now it offers 10+2 system under the Higher Secondary Education Board. GBS is also the first of few schools to introduce 10+2 in Nepal. In 1999, a new college was started in GBS. The college, Gandaki College of Engineering and Sciences (GCES), is affiliated to Pokhara University and offers high quality education.

Ranked among the top schools in Nepal, Gandaki Higher Secondary Boarding school has achieved a strong reputation for excellence, innovation and quality in education, counselling and scholarship.

The 'Himal' a national journal, in an evaluation of the Higher secondary School education in Nepal, compared the top Higher Secondary Schoolsin the country that displayed a commitment to academic excellence. Gandaki Higher Secondary Boarding School was ranked as the top one among them.
