Gan Kim Yong

Gan Kim Yong (b. 9 February 1959) is a Singaporean Member of Parliament who represents Chua Chu Kang SMC. He is also currently the Minister of State (Ministry of Education and Ministry of Manpower). With the new cabinet changes, Gan will be Acting Minister for Manpower and will also be promoted to Senior Minister of State. He will be moving out of the Ministry of Education.[1]

In the 2006 general elections, Gan, representing the PAP, contested Chua Chu Kang SMC against the Steve Chia of the Singapore Democratic Alliance. Gan won with 60.37% of the votes.

Gan also represented the Holland-Bukit Panjang GRC (now Holland-Bukit Timah Group Representation Constituency between 2001-2006.

As a student, Gan received his education in institutions such as Catholic High School and the National Junior College.
