Since you a new user, I want to make sure you are familiar with the 3RR rule. Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. --Tbeatty 15:51, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Gamaliel's Block
Whatever you choose to do here on Wikipedia, go for it, but please leave me and my username out of it. Gamaliel 16:27, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I was reverting to an edition I thought was by you, but I looked and it was by User:GamaIieI. My apologies, however, I believe you went to the extreme in blocking me.
Your username (Gammers) has been blocked indefinitely because it is either inappropriate or too similar to an existing username (see our blocking policy for more information). You are encouraged to create a new account and contribute to Wikipedia under a more appropriate username, and in a constructive manner. See Wikipedia:Username for guidance on selecting an appropriate username. You may also edit Wikipedia without creating an account. You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia under an inappropriate username. If you would like to discuss the block, you may edit your talk page or email the administrator who blocked you.
Due to Wikipedia's mechanism for enforcing name changes, your IP address may be temporarily blocked. Unless you have also been engaging in vandalism or impersonation of another user, we will remove that block as soon as possible — if this doesn't happen within an hour or so, please email an administrator and explain the situation (see the list of administrators).
If you want to keep the contributions from your old account for your new one, please add the following to your user talk page: {{Username change request|new username}} (or {{ucr|new username}} for short). This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page. Note that this can only be done before you create the new one. If you wish to change to a new username, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username for information. In many cases (especially if your account has few or no edits), it is a lot easier to simply create a new account.
Initial request for unblock
This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.
Request reason: "Excuse me? Gammers is not related to any username that I can find. I demand an immediate unblock and a investigation on why Gamaliel is allowed to make this discision on his own."
Decline reason: "Please see WP:USERNAME for reasons for the block. The blocking editor was entitled to do so under Wikipedia rules for administrators. Please follow the instructions above and choose a new username that will not leave other editors feeling uncomfortable. --➨ ЯEDVERS 14:39, 3 August 2006 (UTC)"
Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.
You were apparently blocked by user:bigtop, not user:gamaliel. I support the block as you're first edit was to support "Gamaliel's" version as user "gammers." The fact that it made gamaliel uncomfortable with your short edit history is enough justification for the block. This was too similiar and coincidental, not to mention confusing. Since you don't have a long history of edits, it seems appropriate that you pick a different username. And for your own edification, Wikpedia is a community. "Demanding" would require that you can make a demand on someone. The only place to do this would be to request an ArbCom ruling which is unlikely to come out in your favor over something as trivial as a username. It would be much easier and productive if you simply pick a new username. You are not "Banned" because you picked a bad username so you can continue to contribute to Wikipedia either anonymously or by creating a new username. Etiquette would require you to put a notice that the previous gammers is the new <insert new name here> on your user or talk page.--Tbeatty 05:27, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, this is straight from the block log: * 16:27, 2 August 2006 Gamaliel (Talk | contribs) blocked "Gammers (contribs)" with an expiry time of indefinite. Please, instruct me on why Gamaliel was authorized to do this.
- Futhermore, user:bigtop is not an admin. I would appreciate further independent review of this case.
Second request for unblock
This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.
Request reason: "Request ArbCom intervention in this case. This was a gross abuse of power, as I do not see any users that have names similar to "Gammers." I am entitled, per Wikipedia policy, to an ArbCom hearing about this case."
Decline reason: "Then email arbcom. However from the username policy "Fairly or unfairly, the line between acceptable and unacceptable user names is drawn by those who find the username inappropriate, not by the creator of the name", it's probably simpler to just logout and create another account."
Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.
Third request for unblock
This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.
Request reason: "Request unblock due to Gamaliel not explaining how or why my username is offensive. I respectfully request an adequate response from Gamaliel in relation to this issue, or I will be forced to pursue ArbCom action. I do not see how my username is similar to any others."
Decline reason: "As above"
Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.
Fourth request for unblock, Petition for Extraordinary Relief, and Writ of Habeas Corpus
Request reason: "Request an emergency injunction in reversing my AutoBlock to be able to appropriately defend myself in this case. I am also filing a Writ of Habeas Corpus, to determine if my block is indeed legal. I also request review of this request by an uninvolved admin (User:Pgk reviewed the last two requests, and that seems highly irregular.)"
Decline reason: "You've been told: get a new account that doesn't make other editors uncomfortable. No more requests to unblock this account will be accepted. --➨ ЯEDVERS 21:03, 3 August 2006 (UTC)"
Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.
