[edit] Edit summaries

Hi.

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 19:29, 16 December 2006 (UTC) ╫

[edit] Image NFSCarbonRaceWars

Hello.

I noticed you posted Image:NFSCarbonRaceWars.jpg. You put there fair use license type, but all screenshots are meant to have {{game-screenshot}} tag.

I have already changed it, but please note it next time.

[edit] Edits to Eminem

Hi. I reverted your changes to the Eminem article here. Please don't add nonsense to Wikipedia articles, and please don't use misleading edit summaries. Such edits are considered vandalism, and your account will be blocked from editing if you continue to make such contributions. Thank you for understanding. -GTBacchus(talk) 06:58, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edits to PIT maneuver

I've reverted your recent edit to PIT maneuver. It's generally considered bad form on Wikipedia to remove information without bringing the issue up on the talk page first. I agree with you that the section reads like a how-to, and should probably be cleaned up, but there's still good info there. It shouldn't just be removed. Jhinman 17:14, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Gamer112, your removal of the "defenses" section of PIT maneuver is a violation of WP:NPOV and will be reverted as soon as it is noticed. Please stop. ➥the Epopt 03:46, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Warning

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Beyoncé Knowles, is not consistent with our policy on attribution and verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --ElKevbo 22:18, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Virginia Tech shootings. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Your addition was pure vandalism as far as I can see. -- Rbellin|Talk 19:58, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edit to Chess (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. [edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:NFSCarbonRace.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:NFSCarbonRace.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:47, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Tekken_5_DR_Character_List.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Tekken_5_DR_Character_List.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 10:21, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Ridge_Racer_2_Art.jpg

I have tagged Image:Ridge_Racer_2_Art.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Rettetast 10:21, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sign

As a courtesy to other editors, it is a Wikipedia guideline to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, and WikiProject pages. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then be automatically added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). For further info, read Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines.
