[edit] DYK

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Siege of the Alcázar, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

[edit] Hampton bullets

The reason I took out the bullets was because a recent WP:FAC for George B. McClellan raised objections about using bullets for this. (Wikipedia has somewhat recently been negative about using bullets instead of real sentences for its better articles.) I don't feel strongly about it, so won't attempt to fix this one. [edit] Hampton

That looks good. Although I normally do not worry much about citations in these catalogs of geographic place names, what is your source for claiming "approximately 47 towns of South Carolina" have streets named Hampton? Is there some database of street names? By the way, "approximately 47" is a rather odd construct. Hal Jespersen 15:16, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:1958SCGovResults.png. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:1954SCGovResults.png. The copy called Image:1954SCGovResults.png has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 16:49, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] History of the University of South Carolina

Thanks for expanding the stub left in the USC article. I tried to write a brief summary to leave there but got bogged down in all the politics between the Civil War and WWI. Thanks also for redoing the sections in History of the University of South Carolina. It looks great. clariosophic 03:15, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

RE Clariosophic Society & Euphradian Society As far as I know that's true. The only later references I've found are to the Euphradian Hall which is still used for university functions, but apparently not for society meetings. I belonged to Clariosophic in 1962-63. Most members then were law students with a few grad students and a few pre-law undergrads. There were 16 members in our Garnet & Black picture in 1963, which was most of the active members. The Euphradians had only 7. Older members told me that our hall was given to the society by the legislature and I gathered that the same was true for the Euphradian Hall. Our hall then was probably what would today be called "museum quality" for ante-bellum rooms. Very little had been changed since the that period. Because of USC's reverence for the past, I felt sure that the societies would survive, but I guess the turmoil of the late 60s & early 70s took its toll on Carolina. I've been in contact with guys at the University of Georgia and UNC-CH who are in literary societies there and who jointly maintain a website listing all known US college literary societies. I've heard from them that they have heard from at least one USC student interested in reactivating Clariosophic. clariosophic 02:27, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Flagship State University

I looked at the other schools you cited and decided it was OK, so I put it back. I had thought it was just gilding the lily, but I see your point that it is a valid type. I also found that the State University System of Florida has by law designated some of its state universities as Flagship research universities.clariosophic 18:44, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] House of Rep elections in South Carolina

Do you plan to make the entire list of House of Representatives elections in South Carolina? I saw the 1954, and thought it was pretty good. Basketball110 the pages I've messed up completely 23:15, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 1938 election question

In your [[United States House of Representatives elections in South Carolina, 1938|article], you show John Taylor with a majority in the 8/30 election, but then the election went to a runoff. So I think either you left out a candidate, or the source left out a candidate. --RobbieFal (talk) 19:12, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
