[edit] Notability

Does this article meet WP:WEB?--Jonpro 16:37, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

That's a good question. I don't think the article does enough to demonstrate its notability (at present). -- Ben 19:11, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I can see the point. There are other chess servers with their own page. See ChessWorld. There is also a page that lists known chess portals/servers --Correspondence_chess_server. That seems to be nothing more than a directory listing and Gameknot and ChessWorld are both listed. Oddly enough, today Gameknot is under an apparent DoS attack. I happen to like playing at the site.---- Mokru (talk) 21:50, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

I believe Chessgames.com links to it in their FAQ under "I want to play!", and chessgames.com is certainly considered notable/reputable/whatever on Wikipedia. I went ahead and added that as a source. CopaceticThought (talk) 20:15, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Not NPOV

removed the following: "Gameknot is known for pushing users into buying memberships with the excuse that they don't see the ads, even if it's not their fault and not letting the users discuss these unfair and questionable practice. Any internet user that values ethics and integrity should avoid gameknot." It is not NPOV. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.179.17.42 (talk) 12:22, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ethics and who works there?

I have to say the positive thing about Gameknot is that it is probably the best quality Chess site available. The competing sites are too slow or are clouded with advertising so you cannot see the board anymore. However, the membership system at Gameknot is suspect. If by some unknown évent you find different names as a user on your account, as I did, and I was a paying member for two years, you will be cut off with no explanation, even if it seems to be their software that is at fault. Customer service is abominable and they believe they are a law unto themselves. They have upset a number of ordinary people. I think you should be careful of this site and use Paypal, it is safer. Simon P.S. I can verify what I am saying here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gaywalker (talk • contribs) 12:17, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] DoS attack

This comment seems to be true, that could be the reason why i had users on my account even though i had never met them. I am not surprised that this ishappening given thenumber of people who are wondering just who is running the site, and have been thrown off it with no explanation having paid money for it. For the sake of a few dollars there is no point in engaging a lawyer, but this site is asking for it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gaywalker (talk • contribs) 15:24, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
