[edit] Characters section header
I'm completely with you, EEMeltonIV, on the redundancy of including the title of the book in the "Characters" section header. That's a pattern established by the novels project, though — it's part of the template.
- Characters in "~title of novel~"
- ~Describe and possibly link to characters of novel.~
Having come across the rather cumbersome "Characters in [title of novel]" header when I first started editing the Wolfe book articles, I'd thought a far better header for that section would be "Cast of characters" — the charming way the characters are listed in the old The American Magazine printings of the Wolfe stories. I changed a couple of headers, and then discovered the novels project template while I was trying to figure out some edits that had been made to articles I'd worked on.
I've tried to conform to the consensus opinion of that well-established group, so all of the Wolfe articles have sections headed "Characters in [title of novel]." I'd like to see the header trimmed, and it happens: the novels project has shortened its section title, "Film, TV or theatrical adaptations," to what I preferred, "Adaptations." For now, though, I think the headers should match across the board for all the Wolfe books. This one would be "Characters in Gambit" — but I've been putting the title in italics, not the quotation marks prescribed by the template.
If there's a consensus to change all of the Wolfe book article section headers to "Characters," it'll be my pleasure to change them; but, that being done, the novels project may just change them all back.
