Gammadion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The gammadion, or rather the tetra-gammadion, is known as such because it is made up of four Greek gammas. An ancient symbol used by many ancient cultures. Ancient Greek priestesses would tattoo the symbol, along with the tetraskelion, on their bodies. Ancient Greek architectural designs are replete with the interlinking symbol. Some people associate it with the swastika. Although the swastika had been used as a symbol of Nazi Germany and the Nazi Party, it also is being used by Buddhist Associations and even alchemists. It symbolises the four cardinal corners of this world and the guardianship of this world in traditional alchemy.
