Gamma Sigma
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Gamma Sigma Fraternity (ΓΣ) is the oldest fraternity west of the Mississippi River and was founded in 1863 and chartered in 1867 at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. The Gamma Sigma Fraternity is currently the brother fraternity of the Theta Nu Alpha sorority. Gamma Sigma Fraternity is the only school organization at Pacific (including clubs and Greek groups) to independently own property. The majority of this property is home to its fraternity house near campus.
The Gamma Sigma Fraternity's name was chosen because gamma and sigma are the first two letters of each of the words, gnothi seauton.

The Gamma Sigma Fraternity, located at Rutgers New Brunswick, was the first interfaith, interracial, and co-ed fraternity at Rutgers. Started by World War II Vets, the organization grew to be non-discriminatory despite losing their national as well as their Rutgers Charter. The organization continues to exist as a non-profit social organization that enjoys giving back to its community. Please note that the Rutgers Gamma Sigma is not affiliated with the Pacific Gamma Sigma.
