My dad used to call me a "Mad Galoot" when I was young, I don't think it had anything to do with woodworking tools.
Added definition of the word "Galoot". --Paul
- I noticed that Old WoodWorking Machines uses the term, "galoot", on one of the hats they sell. Perhaps someone interested in further research of this article would contact them (eg, Keith Bohn or Jeff Joslin) to see if they can shed further light on the term's usage? [edit] what is the contrast of galoot with neanderthals?
"Within Internet-based woodworking communities, a galoot is a handtool aficionado, specifically old handtools (antique tools). This is contrasted with users of any hand tools who are called neanderthals in a number of internet woodworking communities." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.141.130.97 (talk) 03:57, 14 January 2007 (UTC).
furthermore, how "notable" is the obscure usage of galoot in -- of all things -- internet woodworking communities? surely it shouldn't even be given wiki bandwidth...
- IMHO, this tiny article probably does not absorb much in the way of bandwidth. Some might argue that the 18+ pages devoted to punk rock is a far greater waste of bandwidth. =:-O But, seriously, that is not the purpose of this page so can we get back on topic, please. For example, one might say that "Internet-based woodworking information communities" would be a better phrase in this article. JimScott 06:31, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Deleted the woodworking stuff, because let's face it, no one cares about online wood-working communities. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.36.143.22 (talk) 23:03, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
