- How come they are not listed on the official Galatasaray website [1]? Aecis Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984. 01:20, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
TFF is the official organization who approves squad numbers, contract details, league matches stats and alike. club websites dont always give the best information.

[edit] Great Matches in Europe
What is the criterion for inclusion in the section "Great Matches in Europe"? Why, for instance, is just about every match in the 1999-2000 European run included? I can understand the UEFA Cup final and the UEFA Super Cup final, but what was spectacular/great about the 2-1 victory over Bologna? AecisBrievenbus 20:02, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Just came to this talk page to pose the same question. Slow Graffiti 02:05, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Also, why is there a match from a friendly competition (Efes Pilsen Cup) in there? CanbekEsen 03:09, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- They mention the game against Leeds in 2000 and strangely forget to mention the murders of two Leeds fans —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.156.172.219 (talk) 09:00, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I think he was Mustafa Denizli ?
Cup Winners Cup Winners: 0 ----- Appearances: 8
91-1992 Quarter Final Karl Heinz Feldkamp eliminated by Werder Bremen 2-1 in Germany, 0-0 in Istanbul
I think this entry is wrong. Technical Director was Mustafa Denizli on that match ?
[edit] Dates & dashes
En dashes should be used in scorelines and only full dates and dates with a day and month should be wikilinked, including in the footnotes. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dashes) and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers). Epbr123 20:47, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User violence
I just corrected some violence of Fenerbahce jerks who changed the club name. Please don't make this article accesable for non-registered users! 16:05, 14 August 2007
[edit] Vandalism?
Can someone check this edit? I'm not sure if it was vandalism or not. Thanks, delldot talk 16:23, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Citizenship of Özbek and Calik
I changed the country flags. Both hold Germany citizenship (probably dual citizenship), and at least Özbek is not able to play for Turkey anymore, since he has turned 21, and is currently playing for German U-21. Not sure about Calik. --78.51.102.102 19:54, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- According to this link you are right. But on the other hand, I can't understand how a player born that was on "14.Sept.1986", play for U-21 team in "12.Oct.2007". Doesn't U-21 means Under 21? Any ideas? --85.103.85.52 10:02, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- According to a German Wikipedia article the actual age at the day of the match doesn't matter, instead only the age at the beginning of any tournament or qualification round is what counts. So participants of a match can also be older than 21 (like in this case). --91.32.72.182 14:28, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] GA review comments
Well, as I usually say, here we go...
- "... and his fellows from the prestigious..." - POV.
- All nicknames need citation.
- "Galatasaray holds the best international record by a Turkish team as well." - reword - don't rely on the previous paragraph by saying "as well".
- " They lifted another prestige trophy when they beat Los Galácticos, the Champions League winner Real Madrid, in the Super Cup same year.[4]" - first it's a bit journalist, secondly the English goes awry with "Super Cup same year"...
- List of sports shouldn't be capitalised. Pipe if you really wish to avoid the redirects.
- Image:Galatasaray SK.png needs a correct fair use rationale (try adding article=Galatasaray S.K. to the template...)
- Image:GS-Finishing-Positions.png is okay but most would place 1st place at the top of the graph, not the bottom.
- "This was how the first Turkish football club was founded." - sounds like a story telling.
- "Among with the founder...", "the co-founders were the ones who were keen to do this sport" - English copyedit required I'm afraid.
- "It eventually did." - not really encyclopaedia material.
- "they heralded the beginning of Turkish football history." - really?
- "the first professional but nonnational league of Turkey" - needs a hyphen and some explanation.
- "today it is organized with the name Turkcell Super League" - grammar?
- "Galatasaray joined all seasons and won 16 league titles since then." - again, needs copyedit.
I'm not going to continue at this time. Like the Fenerbahce article, this needs a lot of work, predominantly in the copyediting world, and I'd advise editors to look at current football featured articles to understand where to aim. I'm failing the GA nom for now, feel free to get in touch with me if what I've said isn't clear. The Rambling Man 18:14, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rivalry
The information is wrong in the rivalry section or manipulated. Galatasaray and Besiktas are eternal rivals of Fenerbahçe. Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe-Beşiktaş are the biggest games. Galatasaray-Beşiktaş games are more like friendly games. But in this article it is shown vice-versa. This is not correct and everbody living in Turkey knows that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.171.98.69 (talk) 08:37, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- Fenerbahce-Besiktas rivalry is not subject of this article. Secondly, a rivalry between Galatasaray and Besiktas exist. --Stone1337 (talk) 20:26, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
My point is clear but I will try again. In Turkey, Fenerbahçe is the most popular sports club thats why every other club fan hates Fenerbahçe. Galatasaray and Besiktas are eternal rivals of Fenerbahce. But the article says it vice-versa. It needs to be edited. Fenerbahce and Besiktas do NOT have a long rivalry with Cimbom. There is a rivalry between three clups but the sentence doesn't say it trully. If you want to keep this article like now, you want to change some true facts known by millions. By deleting other people s edits you are also showing that you are the sole information source. And this power can be used as manipulation which is the story here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.171.96.4 (talk) 09:56, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Galatasaray is the most successful Turkish Club
If Liverpool can say that they are the most successful English club for the reasons they've listed (check their page) Galatasaray can certainly say they are the most successful Turkish club. No other Turkish club has even lifted a European trophy. That gives Galatasaray SK more reason than anything else to make this claim. Besides in the Turkish League Championship in the fifties and the previous years Fenerbahce only have one more league win than Galatasaray in that time period; additionally, we must look at the fact that the Turkish Premier League should be looked at with more regard than any Istanbul Championship period league anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thprfssnl (talk • contribs) 05:27, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yes i agree with everything you said mate...--Stone1337 (talk) 20:26, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Galatasaray is the most succesful club in Turkish football history there is no doubt about that :) Redman19 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 20:48, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Please stop vandalizing this section, thank you.
[edit] 3RR dispute over this article
The 3RR noticeboard is not a place for continuing content disputes. Please negotiate with each other, or bring in the views of other editors knowledgable about sports from the appropriate WikiProjects. I've copied here some comments from the 3RR noticeboard. The alternative is to immediately issue blocks, so please show some patience. EdJohnston (talk) 19:10, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Addition: user continues
Another 4 edits in 24 hours by the same user. User knows about the 3rr rule, but he get away with no block or warning.... And the page is protected with the violated edition... What is the point of reporting then? Icykip2005 (talk) 18:36, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Controversy
- The user Icykip2005 is keeping out info of my revert version
I told him to revert the section he wants to change in the original edit but he keeps on reverting his own idea's
me and some other users did our bests to put info on that page but he keeps reverting it to his own head
if he wants to change something, he should change the section he wants to change and not the whole page.
Redman19 (talk) 18:44, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- Dude, first revert is done here by you. There are no reverts BEFORE this one. Please explain this, if you can. Thank you. Icykip2005 (talk) 18:52, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- I explained you before, if you want to add something on the page, dont revert the whole page
because you are putting out some info that vandalising users have done there
- so please lets work this out so we can have a nice page with the useful info
- we are both Galatasaray supporters we want the best for the page right?
-
- My edition includes infromation that never been on that page before (picture of Arda, Euro2008 trivia etc.). So, your claims are false. Check the link above. You reverted all of those... And you also violated 3rr... This case must be reviewed. I'm waiting to hear from the admin... --Icykip2005 (talk) 19:03, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
You seem to have missed my point when you are reverting things your edits are deleting some precious info ! please take a look at it by yourself and you will see what I mean you are deleting Ahmet Akcan from the managers list, we both know that he was a interim manager for a couple of games, you are deleting the 85px GS logo the logo is too big and should have been smaller. I was never banned or blocked, Im just a user that tries to add useful info at pages and clean up vandalism
the only thing im saying is if you want to add a Arda picture or some other things be my guest, but dont do it over my reverts. Redman19 (talk) 21:32, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- My update included MUCH MORE than Ahmet Akçan fix. Therefore, if you want AHMET AKCAN back in list, then just add his name again. But you didn't do that. You reverted ALL of my update. AND CALLED IT VANDALISM. THIS IS THE PROBLEM. Am I making myself clear?? --Icykip2005 (talk) 15:08, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Ahmet Akçan Issue
Ahmet Akçan never bacame the first manager of team. He was the assistant manager of Feldkamp. And yes, when FELDKAMP was sick, or when FELDKAMP was in holiday, then Ahmet Akçan was responsible for the team. This is what ASSISTANTS for. This is what ASSISTANTS do. These dont make him the interim manager.
Ahmet Akçan resigned (or fired by the club) on the same day with FELDKAMP. So he never became the first manager of team. Therefore, his name won't be in the list.
Source: http://women.soccerway.com/news/2008/April/5/feldkamp-resigns-as-galatasarays-coach/
The 73-year-old German had announced in March that he would step down at the end of the season and take up an administrative role but has now left his post prematurely along with assistant Ahmet Akcan.
Lesson to ignorants: WHAT IS AN INTERIM MANAGER?
Interim manager in soccer, is called to the caretaker person, who takeover the responsibility, after the managers contract is canceled. Assistants, may become the first manager IF THEY STAY after the first manager left.
--Icykip2005 (talk) 15:36, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok you can be right but why dont you insert your own reverts into the main revert because of your reverting the GS logo also keeps reverted to 120px you just dont get it dont ya if you want to edit something dont change the whole page Redman19 (talk) 18:52, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
