Description

The Galbraith, Hunter, Mitchell or Russell tartan. This tartan was likely first known as a Galbraith tartan in the Highland Society of London. In 1847 William Wilson and Sons of Bannockburn recorded this patern as a Russell tartan in 1847, although in 1819 it was named Hunter, The tartan was named Mitchell, in honour of General Billy Mitchell, when the tartan was adopted by the United States Air Forse pipe band.[1]
