The Galveston Causeway is a bridge in Galveston, Texas, United States. It is the only free roadway access point to Galveston Island. Construction on two replacement bridges began in 2003 with completion of the new northbound bridge in 2005. Construction on a new southbound bridge began in 2006 with completion slated for 2008. Currently all traffic is being routed on the future northbound bridge. [1][2]
