[edit] History

Gals Panic was an Austin, Texas ska-punk band, formed in 1992. The band's name comes from the Kaneko arcade game of the same name. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalist Lance Fever (aka Lance Myers), guitarist Jerm Pollet, and original bassist DJ Saturn playing along to a drum machine programmed by Mark Nineteen. They soon hired a real drummer, Steve Austin, to replace Mark Nineteen. DJ Saturn quit one year later and was replaced by bassist Cardinal Connor.

The band had a song featured on the Skarmageddon compilation, released by Moon Ska Records, as well as the soundtrack for the Steven Soderbergh movie, The Underneath, in which the band makes an appearance.

In 1995, the band released their debut album, I Think We Need Helicopters, on Goopy Pyramid Records. The band toured North America for two years, before their breakup in 1997. In 2007, it was announced that the band would reunite for a Texas performance in June.

Pollet would go on to form pop-punk band Missile Command, also named after a video game. Once Missile Command disbanded, Pollet started a solo career under the name Tall, Dark and Lonesome. Pollet has also performed music with actor Timothy Levitch under the name Ongoing Wow. He has also served as a substitute teacher, a tour manager for RuPaul and a member of the comedy improv troupe, ComedySportz. He currently plays in the band, The Total Foxes, and performs his comedy with The Sinus Show comedy group.

Fever would team with Connor and Steve Austin once again in the Playdoh Squad, who released their debut CD, Mutate, in 2000. Fever has since become involved in animation and has worked on projects for the band Riddlin' Kids. He was also one of the lead animators on the Richard Linklater movie A Scanner Darkly.

DJ Saturn now plays guitar in a band called The Transgressors.

Steve Austin joined industrial band Skrew, another band based out of Austin, Texas, and currently performs with 60's-styled Get Hip Records recording artists The UglyBeats.

Gals Panic had a reunion show June 2, 2007 at Emo's in Austin, and played to a packed house of thrilled fans, even with very little publicity leading up to the show. There is also a Gals Panic fansite on myspace.
