Gallinule Stakes

The Gallinule Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland for three-year-old thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at the Curragh in late May.
It is named after the racehorse Gallinule (1884–1912), the sire of Pretty Polly and consequently the leading sire in Great Britain and Ireland in 1904 and 1905.
The race has held Group 3 status since 1998, before which it had been run at Group 2 level. Older horses were eligible to participate from 1994 to 2003, reverting to three-year-olds only in 2004. It took place at Leopardstown in 2001 and 2002.
