[edit] Overview

Galleria at Sunset is one of only three enclosed non-outlet malls in the Las Vegas Valley away from the Strip.[3] It is owned and operated by Forest City Enterprises.[1]

The layout is a two-story "Y" shape and includes a total of 1,051,000 ft² of space.[1] The decor is Southwestern and architectural elements, such as indoor fountains, have gained praise;[3] Frommer's describes it as the "most aesthetically pleasing" of the Las Vegas Valley's malls.[4]

The mall has 133 tenants, including 5 anchors, an indoor car dealership, the community relations office of the Henderson Police Department, and 2 full-service restaurants as well as 14 quick-service food stalls in and around the food court.

[edit] History

Galleria opened on February 28, 1996.[5] The mall's developer, Forest City Enterprises, announced that it opened the mall with 85% of space leased, which was the highest it had ever achieved in any mall it had developed.[6]

On October 11, 2002, the mall opened a 121,000 ft² expansion on the northeast edge that added a new anchor location (now occupied by Dick's Sporting Goods) as well as multiple other tenants.[7]

A second expansion is planned for 2008 and may coincide with an additional offramp from Interstate 515 built specifically for the mall.[5]
