[edit] Copyright

Wikipedia cannot reproduce the text of copyrighted material; it is against the law in almost every country on earth, including the US where Wikipedia is hosted and the UK, where the 1990s book was published that you state this is "taken from". Do please see WP:Copyvio. If you are the author of the material in that book, you need to state that you are, and that you are giving permission to use it on Wikipedia. It looks like you don't understand that copyright infringement is illegal, and a serious matter that can get Wikipedia in equally serious trouble. Attempting to circumvent the copyright violation by removing the statement of the source is not honest. You have not answered the copyright question; you are now beginning to look like you are acting in bad faith. Bill 13:08, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
I was not aware of this. The text is in fact a summary of some work I have undertaken on the site, and the reference was slipped in accidentally, which is why I removed it. The actual text is based on my interpretation of previous works, and does not represent a straight copy. Apologies for any confusion. User:Gaj 10:31, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Ah, Newbie didn't check their Talk page....! No harm done; do monitor your Talk page, though: if sometimes it alerts us to stuff we'd rather not hear, it can also be quite helpful, and is the locus for lots of coöperation with other editors. On the strength of what you say then, I've removed the copyvio notice; although, now that it's appeared on your article's copyvio page — others may pile in, knowing nothing of what preceded. I'll leave a note there, and stick up for your article from now on. Bill 15:43, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks Bill, yes a Newbie who never reads instructions for anything! Look forward to contributing more in a proper manner of course!

I have tidied up and wikified your article - Castle Hill, Huddersfield, England but you need to verify where the information came from. The book refered to above should listed under a ==Reference == header. Do this as soon as possible, before someone leaps on the fact that is no reference. --Bduke 07:49, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Despite the author's protestations to the contrary, the majority of this article is copied almost word for word from its primary reference source ( Rumsby, J 'A Castle Well Guarded: the archaeology and history of Castle Hill, Almondbury' ) which is quoted (presumably with permission) here: http://www.kirkleesmc.gov.uk/community/castleHill/consultation/history.shtml 212.159.45.228 13:45, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Reference added. The terse remarks above are a little offensive, I'd appreciate comments that are a little better considered please, my error was not intentional.
