Group Captain Gajendra Singh Shaktawat was an exemplary Indian cricketer of the 1970s and a sports administrator.
Gp. Cpt. Gajendra Singh Shaktawat, a native of Bansi village in Udaipur, Rajasthan played in the Ranji Trophy for Rajasthan and Services teams in India. He also represented the Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy. He had a distinguished career in the Indian Air Force where he served for 30 years. He was also a sports administrator and managed the Indian athletics team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and was manager of the Indian cricket team during their triumphant campaign at the Hero Cup in 1993-94. He won the himalayan car rally in 1988. He was the President of Rajasthan State Sports Council from the 1999-2004. He was part of the Indian contingent in the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
