Coordinates: 18°18′00″N 83°19′60″E / 18.3, 83.3333 Gajapathi-nagaram is a town and mandal in Vizianagaram district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.[1]

It is located on National Highway 43 between Natavalasa and Ramabhadrapuram.

It is located on the banks of River Champavathi at 18.3000° N 83.3333° E.[2] It has an average altitude of 69 meters (229 feet).

According to the Imperial Gazetteer,[3] Gajapathinagaram Tahsil in Vizagapatam district had about 228 villages and covered an area of 333 square miles. The population in 1901 was 1,34,553, compared with 1,24,057 in 1891.

As of 2001 India census,[4] Gajapathinagaram had a population of 5,282. Males constitute 48% of the population and females 52%. Gajapathinagaram has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 53%. In Gajapathinagaram, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Gajapathinagaram mandal had a population of 56,054 in 2001. Males constitute 27,770 and females 28,284 of the population. The average literacy rate of the mandal population is 45%. Male literacy rate is 56% and that of females 34%.
