Gaius Antonius (grandson of Mark Antony)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gaius Antonius (born after 18 BC-?) was the second son of consul Iullus Antonius and Claudia Marcella Major. His brother was praetor Lucius Antonius and his sister was Iulla Antonia. His maternal half siblings were Vipsania Marcella and Appuleia Varilla.
His maternal grandparents were Octavia Minor (second elder sister to Roman Emperor Augustus) and consul Gaius Claudius Marcellus Minor, while his paternal grandparents were triumvir Mark Antony and Fulvia. Through his paternal grandmother, Gaius was descended from generals Lucius Aemilius Paulus Macedonicus and Scipio Africanus and the famous politicians Tiberius Gracchus and Gaius Gracchus.
He was born and raised in Rome. Very little is known on his life and like his brother he died, without having any children.
