Gaia Afrania

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gaia (or Caia) Afrania (fl. 1st century BC) was the wife of the senator Licinius Buccio, and a very litigious woman.[1] She always pleaded her own causes before the praetor, and thus gave occasion to the publishing of the edict which forbade all women to postulate. She was perhaps the sister of Lucius Afranius, consul in 60 BC. She died in 48 BC.[2][3]
