From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
GAIN - Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss foundation. Its goal is to fight malnutrition by mobilizing public-private partnerships and enabling them, through technical and financial support, to deliver improved nutrition to vulnerable populations.
GAIN has set itself the target to reach 1 billion people by 2009, of whom 500 million are at risk of vitamin and mineral deficiencies. It is currently supporting 19 national programs in 17 countries where national alliances fortify staple foods and condiments with vitamins and minerals, and also working on other approaches to combat malnutrition.
Mr. Marc Van Ameringen is Executive Director, and Mr. Jay Naidoo is the Chair of the GAIN Board.
Its headquarters are in Geneva, and it has offices in Beijing (China), New Delhi (India) and Johannesburg (South Africa).
