Gaelen Foley was born on November 16 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., and she has three sisters. She holds a B.A. in English literature with a minor in philosophy from the State University of New York, College at Fredonia, New York. After college Foley continued to write in her free time while waitressing to earn money. In that time she wrote four manuscripts before her fifth one was picked up by the publishing house, Bertelsmann. In 1998 her first novel The Pirate Prince was published and since has penned 11 bestselling historical novels. She has been noted for her "complex, subtly shaded characters, richly sensual love scenes, and elegantly fluid prose." (Booklist)

Gaelen has known her husband Eric since their college days.[1]
