[edit] List of alcohol-related topics
Hi. Please don't redirect articles to categories. The article in question is part of Category:Alcohol-related lists. If you would like to discuss, please use Talk:List of alcohol-related topics. Thanks. I understand you are new, but if you blank your discussion without archiving or responding, some users will interpret that as hostile behavior. —Viriditas | Talk 02:26, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about that -- I should have acknowledged that I got your message. How do I archive past talk page conversations? --speak togadren 02:28, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. See WP:ARCHIVE. BTW, you may also be interested in List of topic lists. —Viriditas | Talk 02:40, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to Esperanza!
Welcome, Gadren, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of JoanneB, Freakofnurture and Titoxd. The next set of elections will be in June, and you are more than welcome to take part, by voting or by listing yourself as a candidate.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC Tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
[edit] Copyvio speedy deletion
Hi Gadren! I came across the article Blue Pottery and wanted to let you know that I placed another tag on it—{{db-copyvio}}, which allows speedy deletion of clear copyright violations where the text is from a commercial content provider and was posted within the previous 48 hours. I hope you don't mind. The article appears to me to meet the criteria, and the violating text shouldn't remain for all to see during the five day prod process (actually usually longer, the backlog there often keeps things alive well after they can be deleted). For copyright violations that do not meet the WP:CSD criteria, another process for copyright violations is at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. As explained there, if the article has a prior version which is not a copyright violation, revert to that text (with an appropriate edit summary), and if all versions are copyright violations, you blank the content, place a tag on the article and list it on a daily page created for administrator review of the article. Keep up the good work--Fuhghettaboutit 05:33, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks! I didn't know about all that, but I guess ya learn something new every day. --hello,gadren 05:44, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] wow, you've come along nicely
I saw one of your posts in the Esperanza coffee lounge and checked your talk page. I saw that I was the one that welcomed you to Wikipedia! It's always nice to see how users develop. Also, you should probably consider archiving talk page discussion instead of just removing it. It's kinda looked down upon. — ßottesiηi (talk) 03:12, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! And yeah, I found out about the whole archiving messages thing (as you can see on my talk page right now actually), only after I had removed them...and I'm kind of lazy to put 'em back right now. --hello,gadren 03:39, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Good job
Well-spotted in that article on the VC Andrews novel - having an excerpt of that length is, indeed, a copyright violation. I've removed the material in question. DS 18:37, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My userboxes
Hi! You commented on my userboxes, and offered to help organize them somewhat. While I do not wish to reduce the number of userboxes, I have decided that, if you're still interested, I would love to have you help me organize them into a better-looking format. Also, I used the {{subst: prefix on most of the userboxes, as suggested by some page on the subject (i forget which), however it appears to have broken a few of them, and unfortunately, it made my page very large. Any chance you'd be able to fix those too? Again, I don't want to remove any of the userboxes, as I find the large number of them quite humorous (especially the ones referring to the ridiculousness of having so many userboxes), so I do want to keep all the ones that are there. If you'd like to take on this project, please feel free to edit my userpage accordingly. Thanks! Dansiman 07:34, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Unibicameral_Map.png
Hi Gadren. You edited Image:Unibicameral_Map.png on May 5, 2007. A poster at the Help Desk indicates that the image is wrong in that the map shows Saudi Arabia as a country with no parliament. However, Saudi Arabia is a unicameral Parliament. Would you please respond to this Help Desk request? Thanks! -- Jreferee (Talk) 16:08, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
