[edit] Welcome!
Hello inspector Gadget lol, I mean Gadget850, ehem. Thank you very much for the warm welcome (which I suspect is an automated message, but its the thought that counts!) I am very much enjoying my time on Wikipedia, it is such a vibrant and exciting website that is changing constantly. I love it! Again, thank you for the welcome. :) Mr Beans Backside (talk) 14:50, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Late queries
It does not seem that you noticed my late query at Wikipedia:Help_desk/Archives/2008_May_12#LOC-image_Template. Also, I need help with the template at Image:Willard Motley.jpg. Please reply at my talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:46, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- Looks like you figured out that these need {{LOC-image}}. I changed the wording on {{LOC-cdn}}. Sorry I did not respond sooner, but I was traveling on business. --— Gadget850 (Ed)talk 09:54, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know much about the LOC, but it seem that this collection is actually housed at the Chicago History Museum even thought they are listed in the LOC. The template may disappoint a DC visitor and probably still needs to be changed to reflect the location of the images.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 14:16, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ah- tweaked it a bit. Please feel free to edit it if it needs more work. --— Gadget850 (Ed)talk 14:34, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Here is another image I can not get the LOC link to work for.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 16:45, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- What URL did you get this from? --— Gadget850 (Ed)talk 18:08, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
-
- OK- You were using {{LOC-image}} which is only for the Prints and Photographs division. I found the image— it is from the Chicago Daily News, but is in a different collection for "Chicago Anarchists on Trial: Evidence from the Haymarket Affair, 1886-1887". I added a handle for this- see {{LOC-cdn}}. I see how the handles into the LOC work, and it is a bit messy. If you find another one, give me the URL and I can figure this out faster. --— Gadget850 (Ed)talk 19:02, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Talkheader
Greetings. You recently removed the Talkheader on the talk page of an article that I created Plumb House (Waynesboro, Virginia). Can you please help me find exactly where it says that this header is only intended for pages with policy violation problems? Thanks! FieldMarine (talk) 00:26, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Certainly— it is in the documentation for {{talkheader}}, specifically:
This template should be used only when needed. Do not add this template to every talk page. In particular, it should not be added to otherwise empty talk pages.
I've only used the template where folks have a history of using the talk page as a forum instead of working the article— Talk:M113 Armored Personnel Carrier is a good example. As the article in question has had no discussion, the header is not needed. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 00:37, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks...I wish I saw that guidance earlier. FieldMarine (talk) 01:02, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] LOC formating
Can you get this LOC template working Image:1891 Rookery building.jpg--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 08:34, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm happy to help with these, but please give me the URL where you got the image. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 11:24, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] syntax question
Hi Ed,
Recognizing that you are all-knowing, all-wise, and an all-around nice guy, I wonder if you would take a look at Jim Palmer#Career statistics? I'm trying to force the MLBBioRet template to right-align and maybe there's a better way than what I'm doing to work around the lack of this parameter in the template itself. Which is regrettable when it's used below a 2nd-level heading. JGHowes talk - 22:57, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- You did about as good as it gets without changing the template. If you want to start a discussion on the template talk, I can add an alignment parameter. I think the MOS states that you should not include images floated left directly after a header as it mess up certain things. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 00:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- ok, I thought maybe there was some other workaround I didn't know about. I would like to propose an alignment parameter on the template talk, because MOS:IMAGES indeed says exactly that. JGHowes talk - 00:48, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Start the discussion and I will look at it tomorrow. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 01:08, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks
Thanks for the welcome that you left, and thanks for your service to the country and our youth. Could you also look at Image talk:KnotDAM.png, I can't seem to figure out why it will not post the image that I uploaded. Thanks! Click23 (talk) 16:40, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Go to Special:Preferences; select Gadgests > User interface gadgets and check "A clock in the personal toolbar ..." and Save. Go back to the image page and click on the clock to purge. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 16:47, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
-
- I tried that, but it still shows up with the loop on the top of the knot. Adding the purge command to the url, for the actual image, the loop is on bottom(the file that I uploaded) I am not sure if you are seeing it the same way that I am, so below is a couple of links and descriptions.
-
- without purge loop on top, original image
- with purge loop on bottom, image that I uploaded
- Click23 (talk) 17:07, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
-
-
- I see the free ends on the top and the loop on the bottom, just as shown on the plaque: [1]. Try going back to the image pages and WP:BYPASS. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 17:11, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Little Sioux Scout Ranch logo
Hi Ed,
Just thought I'd mention as a suggestion that for Fair Use of a logo, a streamlined template is {{logo fur}} instead of {{Non-free media rationale}} JGHowes talk - 00:31, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

I've put a lot of work into this article lately and hope to nominate it for FAC in a couple of days. If you could look it over and give it a good copyedit, etc, I'd really appreciate it. — Rlevse • Talk • 00:51, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
