Gabriel Yiu was born and educated in Hong Kong. He immigrated to BC in 1991. Gabriel has been an advocate for social justice, human rights and cultural harmony. He has been an active commentator in the Chinese and English-language media in the past twelve years, appearing in the Vancouver Sun, Business In Vancouver, Fairchild Radio and TV, Ming Pao, CHMB, Chanel M and CBC. His media commentory received a host of local and international awards.

TIME magazine featured Gabriel as one of the six “People to Watch” in Vancouver. He also received the Cultural Harmony Award from the City of Vancouver.

Gabriel is also active as a volunteer in the Burnaby-Willington arts community. He has hosted a successful exhibition of Chinese painting and worked with JumpStart Performing Arts Society, a local dance company.

Gabriel and his wife Angela are also successful small business people. Together they run a successful florist business that has been recognized as one of the best in their field by readers of the Georgia Straight.
