Gabor Kallai

Gábor Kállai (born 1959) is a Hungarian chess Grandmaster. His Elo rating on 1 January 2006 was 2504.

In several Team Championship he won the gold medal: in Hungary with MTK-VM and with Miskolci SSC, in Switzerland with the team of Bern, in France with the team of Strasbourg. For the latest he is playing already for 15 years.

He has written nine books, published in multiple languages. The Basic Chess Openings is his most popular book, published in Hungarian, English, Italian, German and French. Since 2005 he has a chess column in the Hungarian daily newspaper Népszabadság; since 2006 has a TV-program on Hungarian SPORT1 TV (SAKKK!).

Trainer: 1983-1986: second of GM Zoltán Ribli; 1980-1994: one of the coaches of Zsuzsa Polgár; 2005: FIDE Senior Trainer; (highest trainer licence of FIDE);

From 2001 to 2005 he was the Professional Director of the Hungarian Chess Federation. In 2002 he was Coach of the Hungarian Selected Men Team in Bled finished on the second place.
